California sets the limit and it is different front to back. The front side windows have to stay light, the rears can go as dark as you like, and the windshield gets a strip along the top. We walk you through the legal range before anything gets cut.
A full car is usually 2 to 4 hours, and two front windows about an hour. Home and storefront jobs depend on the glass count, so we quote those after a quick look.
That is cheap dyed film failing. Carbon and ceramic film do not do that, and the install is warrantied, so if anything ever lifts or hazes we come sort it out.
Carbon blocks a solid amount of heat for the money and never fades. Ceramic blocks noticeably more heat and glare at the same shade, so the cabin stays cooler without having to go darker.
Price comes down to the vehicle, how many windows, and whether you go carbon or ceramic. You get that number before anything gets cut, no surprise add-ons, and you pay once the job is done and you have looked it over.
